I got bought a 12-piece box (asked for 1 of each available type/flavor) for a friend's housewarming and they were a hit! Definitely recommend!

They always have friendly and fast service! Do watch the store hours and the availability of the different mochi flavors. Some of them are only available during certain days. A slight disappointment: I paid for a 12 piece box and only received 11 pieces . They might have packed the box too quickly.

The line outside this manju shop can get super long and intimidating on Saturdays, but I discovered that there is pretty much no line on Sundays since so many businesses in Japantown are closed. It's the perfect time to stop by, especially since parking is also free on Sundays! I got a pack of 4 for $10 and picked the yomogi, monaka, chi chi dango, and butter mochi. I love how the mochi here is a little grainier than the store-bought kind and you can taste the natural sweetness from the rice. The yomogi was stuffed with smooth azuki beans. The azuki filling was so tasty but it was pretty sweet so I wish I had some tea or coffee to pair with it. The chi chi dango and butter mochi are great options for anyone looking for manju without beans. The chi chi dango really showcases how soft and tasty the mochi is. Their butter mochi is tasty but I think I would rather get their other mochi-based manju because the soft mochi is too good. The manju is not cheap but the pieces are definitely shareable (and rice and beans are pretty filling). With so few shops making homemade manju these days, this place is a must-try!

Was craving something sweet while in San Jose, and found this place through yelp! This is a simple manju shop, but they offer a great selection. This is a walk up shop with the menu right above the order window. We were full from lunch, so we only got the kinako and peanut butter mochi. The kinako had great texture with a wafer cookie inside. The peanut butter mochi was creamy and soft. Really delicious! Right after we ordered, we were handed our box of mochi. Super fast service! Overall a good spot for manju!!
